Emma meets with Alzheimer’s Society in Shields

August 1, 2013

In Parliament today I asked the Secretary of State for Defence, will Canada 🇨🇦 be asked to join the JEF? You can Listen to my question and the resposne from the Secretary of State below.

130801 Alzheimer's Society (2)Emma visited the Alzheimer’s Support Group on Thursday to speak with carers about concerns they have about Alzheimer’s.  The group raised several issues with Emma, including funding and respite care.

The Group also discussed the range of activities on offer in South Tyneside, both for those who suffer from the condition and their carers.  The Alzheimer’s Society runs Dementia Cafes and one to one sessions to help alleviate concerns and answer questions which the users have.

Emma said:

“My meeting with the group was very informative and touched me personally, as I had a relative who suffered from the disease.  Groups like this and the activities that are organised through them act as a lifeline for many suffers and carers and I applaud their efforts and work.

“I would encourage any constituents who are suffering from or are caring for someone with Alzheimer’s to contact the Alzheimer’s Society in South Shields.”
